Solution:
Zn have lower value of Ecell∗ and easily gives
oxidation. Zn is present above H2 in
electrochemical series. So, it liberates hydrogen gas
from dilu. HCI/H2SO4. But HNO3 is an oxidising
agent. The hydrogen obtained in this reaction is
converted into H2O. In HNO3,NO3− ion is reduced
and give NH4NO3,N2O,NOandNO2 (based upon
the concentration of HNO3 )
[ Zn+2HNO3⟶Zn(NO3)2+2H]×4
(Nearly 6% ) HNO3+BH⟶NH3+3H2O 4Zn+10HNO3⟶4Zn(NO3)2+NH4NO3+3H2ONH3+HNO2⟶NH4NO3
