This equation is known as Lagmuir adsorption isotherm. where; $x=$ mass of gas adsorbed

m = grams of the adsorbent and a and b are constants.

Taking reciprocal of both sides, we have

$\frac{m}{x}=\frac{1+bp}{ap}$

$\frac{m}{x}=\frac{1}{ap}+\frac{b}{a}$

Thus; a plot of $\frac{m}{x}$ versus $\frac{1}{p}$ will be straight line.
