Solution:
In monocot root, there is a central zone of parenchymatous cells within the vascular cylinder. It is called the pith. Pith is also seen in the dicot stem. In both monocot root and dicot stem, there are more than six xylem bundles and hence it is polyarch. Between the epidermis and endodermis is are multiple layers of parenchymatous cells of the cortex in both monocot root and dicot stem. Pericycle or the outer layer of the vascular cylinder is parenchymatous in monocot stem while it is sclerenchymatous in dicot stem.
