Solution:
The pituitary gland (hypophysis cerebri) is divided into two parts, the adenohypophysis and neurohypophysis. The adenohypophysis consists of two parts the pars distalis also known as anterior pituitary and pars intermedia. The anterior pituitary produces growth hormone, proclactin, thyroid stimulating hormone, Adrenocorticotrophic hormone, Luteinizing Hormone and Follicle Stimulating Hormone. The neurohypophysis also known as posterior pituitary stores oxytocin and vasopressin. It does not produce these hormones, they are produced by the hypothalamus and are transported and stored in the posterior pituitary from where they are released.
