Mitochondria also known as the powerhouse of the cell, has a small circular chromosome called the mitochondrial DNA which is passed through the egg cell from the mother to the offspring. The chloroplast, which are the plant organelles having the chlorophyll pigment and performs photosynthesis also contains small and circular DNA with many copies in it.
