The leaf of citrus appears as a simple leaf, but the presence of abnormal leaflets on the sides of the normal leaf clearly tells the citrus leaf is a palmate compound leaf. The two abnormal leaflets are non-functional and only the central leaf is functional, hence, it is considered as the unifoliate compound leaf.
