Solution:
The alimentary canal is composed of four tissue layers one of which is mucosa which is referred to as mucous membrane. This membrane consists of connective tissue which contains lymphatic vessels. Peyer's patches are masses of lymphoid follicles that line the small intestine. They play an important role in the recognition and destruction of potential pathogens. Brunner's gland protects the intestinal wall from gastric juices. Auerbach's plexus helps in the peristaltic movement of the bowels whereas the Meissner's plexus controls the glandular secretions.
