The uterus is also called hystera or womb. It is an inverted pear-shaped structure. It is made up of three walls. The outer layer is perimetrium which is made up of thin connective tissue. The middle layer is myometrium which is made up of smooth muscles. The endometrium is the innermost layer which undergoes cyclic changes during menstrual cycle. The endometrium is further made up of two layers.
