Lamarckism is popularly called theory of inheritance of acquired characters as well as theory of use and disuse of organs. According to him, constant use of an organ makes it more efficient and specialised and disuse brings about its degeneration. Such acquired characters are inherited through generations. According to it, a Nobel laureate has sharp brain due to greater use of it but this character must be inherited to his progeny. Hence it cannot explain occurrence of weak progeny of a Nobel laureate.
