Option (b) is not a feature of active transport of solutes in plants. Active transport of solutes in plants is carried out by membrane proteins. Like enzymes, the carrier proteins are very specific (i.e. selective) in what they carry across the membranes. Active transport, i.e. the uphill transport of molecules uses energy (ATP) to pump molecules against a concentration gradient.
