Solution:
Pigments are substances having the ability to absorb light of different wavelengths. Chlorophyll 'a' absorbs light of visible spectrum having wavelengths between 400 nm to 700 nm. Maximum absorption by chlorophyll 'a' occurs in the blue and red regions, and it also shows a higher rate of photosynthesis. Carotenoids absorb light in the blue-green and violet region and reflect the longer yellow, red, and orange wavelengths.
