The pericarp of berries is differentiated into epicarp, mesocarp and endocarp but the endocarp is not stony. In tomato pericarp, placenta and seeds are edible. Maize fruit is caryopsis and edible part is endosperm and embryo. Date palm fruit is berry and its mesocarp is edible. Guava fruit is berry and its pericarp and placenta is edible.
