Zn on reaction with HNO3
Zinc reacts with the dilute nitric acid to form the nitrous oxide gas. It is also known as the laughing gas. 4Zn+10HNO3(dil)→4Zn(NO3)2+N2O+5H2O
Zinc reacts with the concentrated nitric acid to form the brown colour nitrogen dioxide gas. Zn+4HNO3(conc.)→Zn(NO3)2+2NO2+2H2O
