When plant cell is kept in saline water, exosmosis takes place, as a result of which cell decreases in size. On the other hand if the plant cell is kept in hypotonic solution the endosmosis takes place and cell increase in size. The animal cell burst in hypotonic solution due to endosmosis and absence of cell wall. When a plant or animal cell is kept in isotonic solution the cell remain unchanged as there is no exosmosis or endosmosis.
