By definition the quantum yield of photosynthesis is the molar ratio between oxygen released in photosynthesis (or carbon assimilated) to photons absorbed in the process. It is denoted by (ϕ) .The quantum ratio generally stays <1 as all photons are not absorbed productively.
Typically for every mole of quanta absorbed 0.06 moles of CO2 is fixed under normal conditions.
Quantum yield is found to be around 8% in the photosynthesis process.
