I is the cross section of dicot leaf while II is the cross section of monocot leaf. In dicot leaf, the mesophyll cells are differentiated into palisade cells which are closely placed and spongy cells which are loosely placed. In dicot leaf, stomata are present on the lower surface. Thus sub-stomatal chambers are present only on the lower surface. In monocot leaf, stomata are present on the upper as well as the lower surface. Thus sub-stomatal chambers are present only on both the surfaces.
