Lipids are esters of fatty acids and alcohols. These are classified as simple lipids, conjugated lipids and derived lipids. Simple lipids are pure esters. Conjugated lipids are compound lipids. These have lipid and non lipid parts. Glycolipids, phospholipids are its examples. In phospholipids, the non-lipid part is phosphate group which are found in cell membranes. One example of such phospholipid is lecithin. This phospholipid has an additional group choline attached to the phosphate group. Lecithin is found in egg yolks.
