CCl4 is a co-valent compound, therefore, it does not ionize to give Cl- ions and hence, it does not give white ppt. of AgCl when treated with AgNO3 solution. There is no reaction to evolve NO2.CCl4 will form a separate layer as it is immiscible with water.
