Verticillaster inflorescence is the characteristic feature of family Labiateae. It consists of biparous cymes, ending in uniparous scorpioid cyme on either side. Placentation is the position of placenta inside the ovary. In family Labiatae axile placentation is found. Venation is the arrangement of veins in the lamina. The leaves of Labiatae have reticulate venation. Phylotaxy is the arrangement of leaves on the stem. Labiatae has opposite phylotaxy.
