Tubulin protein occurs in microtubules, which are long, hollow cylinder. They influence cell shape, move the chromosome in cell division and provide the functional internal structure of cilia and flagella. The assembly of microtubules occurs by the incorporation of dimeric building blocks, which consists of two tubulin molecules (i) one a-tubulin and (ii) one β -tubulin.
