Solution:

Sound waves are longitudinal waves. They produce alternately the states of compression and rarefraction at a point in the medium. When two sound waves of same frequency travel simultaneously in a medium in the same direction, then at some points both the waves produce compression (or rarefraction). At these points intensity of sound is maximum.
