Q.
The resistance of a bulb filament is 100Ω at a temperature of 100°C. If its temperature coefficient of resistance be 0.005 per °C, its resistance will become 200Ω at a temperature of:
Let resistance of bulb filament is R0 at 0°C then from expression Rθ=R0[1+αΔθ]
we have, 100=R0[1+0.005×100]
and 200=R0[1+0.005×x]
where x is temperature in °C at which resistance become 200Ω.
Dividing the above two equations 100200=1+0.005×1001+0.005x⇒x=400°C
