Large intestine: It is divisible into 3 regions:
a. Caecum: It is a small blind sac which is harbouring some symbiotic micro-organisms e.g. E.coli. The caecum opens into the colon.
b. Vermiform appendix: It is a vestigial organ arising from the caecum and it appears like a narrow finger-like tubular projection.
c. Colon: It is divided into 3 parts: ascending colon, transverse colon and descending colon.
d. Rectum: Descending colon opens into the rectum which has the anus as an exit.
