Solution:

Apical dominance is the phenomenon in which the apical bud always suppresses the growth of axillary buds that are present beneath it. Apical dominance is present due to the concentration of auxins in the apex, which is always higher. This superiority of the apical bud over axillary buds is called Apical dominance.
Apical dominance can be removed by the following ways:
1. By some mechanical means, if the apex (including the apical bud) is removed, the axillary buds get a chance to develop. This is called Topping. Tea plants are cut at their apices to make them bushy in appearance. The reason behind the same is due to the less availability of auxin at the tip allows the lateral buds to develop.
2. If Cytokinin is applied at the lateral or axillary buds, they grow faster, even in the presence of apical buds. This is due to the new connections created between the bud and the stele of the stem.
Thus, a proper balance of Auxin and Cytokinin controls apical dominance and helps in removing them too.
