Solution:

Amino acids have an Amino group , Carboxyl group and Variable R group. The two functional groups are ionizable i.e. can form ions. Thus two ions can be formed and this is known as Zwitterion formation. This property is useful in many reactions and hence amino acids can undergo many chemical reactions. The variable R group is responsible for types of Amino acids and thus there are different types of Amino acids.
