In vitro fertilization (IVF) followed by Embryo transfer (ET)
- It is also known as IVF-ET or Test tube baby programme.
- In vitro fertilization : Fertilisation of ova (from wife /donor female) and sperms (from husband/donor male) under simulated conditions in the laboratory → Zygote → Early embryos (upto 8 blastomeres).
- ZIFT (Zygote intra fallopian transfer): Transfer of zygote into the fallopian tube.
- IUT (Intra uterine transfer): Transfer of embryos with more than 8 blastomeres into the uterus.
- Such techniques can help those females who have unfavourable conditions for fertilisation or who can't conceive.
