The trachea is a straight tube also called the windpipe, which extended up to the mid-thoracic cavity. It divides at the level of 5th thoracic vertebrae into right and left bronchi or primary bronchi as it is at the same level as the sternal angle. The 5th thoracic vertebrae in the region of the spinal column inferior to the cervical vertebrae of the neck.
