Fruit that is formed from the fertilized ovary that surrounds the seeds. Such fruits are called true fruit. When the fruit part develops from other parts of the flower than the ovary is called as false fruit.
True fruit is the fruit that is formed from the fertilized ovary of the flower and ovules get transformed into seeds. Strawberry develops from an aggregate of achenes and the edible part is thalamus. It is thus a false fruit.
