Ends of an eukaryotic chromosome are known as telomeres. These are very necessary for the integrity of chromosomes. Telomeres are characterised by repeated DNA sequences ( bp long). This feature is common to all chromosomes of a species and is conserved. Telomerase, which is a special ribonucleoprotein molecule (enzymatic in nature) is responsible for the synthesis of these telomeres.
