Carolus Linnaeus (1707-1778), a Swedish naturalist, who is known as Father of Taxonomy published Systema Naturae (1758) and Species Plantarum (1753). He described about 4000 plant species and introduced Binomial system of nomenclature. John Hutchinson (1884-1972) published his phylogenetic classification in his book Families of flowering plants. Lamarck coined the term Phylogeny and worked on evolution. Bentham and Hooker published a joint natural system of classification in Genera Plantarum (1862-1883), which became most popular classification in Europian countries except France.
