Most of the stratified epithelia in the adult body are of stratified squamous epithelium type. The squamous stratified epithelium is of two types keratinizing and non-keratinizing types. Skin epidermis is of keratinizing type, whereas the cornea of eyes, inner surface of eyelids, lining of buècal cavity, lower past of pharynx, esophagus, vagina and vestibule of the cavity are of a non-keratinizing type.
