Johann Mendel, considered the father of Genetics, gave the observation and theories of inheritance of characteristics. He made his conclusions bases on experiments conducted on Pisum sativum, pea plant. In the plant he had considered seven characteristics - seed shape, seed colour, pod shape, pod colour, stem height, flower colour, flower position.
During his experiments, he found that the tall height stem, round seed, yellow seed, green pod, axial flower and inflated pod traits were dominant and the alternative traits were recessive.
