Nitrifying bacteria are included as chemosynthetic autotrophs. These bacteria firstly convert ammonia into nitrite and then nitrites are converted into nitrates. In both these processes some energy is liberated which is used for the production of ATP and organic food. Archaebacteia are chemoheterotrophs. Photosynthetic autotrophs use energy of sunlight for production of organic food. Heterotrophs cannot synthesize their own food, they depend on other organisms for food substances.
