AIDS is caused by Human Immunodeficiency virus which has a protein capsule enclosing two molecules of single stranded RNA. HIV enters the human body and replicates within the macrophages. It causes decrease in T lymphocyte count. Anti-retroviral drugs are only partially effective in the disease and cannot cure it.
