Solution:
The process of evolution of different species in a given geographical area starting from a point and literally radiating to other areas of geography (habitats) is called adaptive radiation. Darwin's finches and Australian marsupials represent one of the best examples of this phenomenon. It also exhibits the phenomenon of divergent evolution. Bobcat is and placental mammal, while flying phalanger is an Australian marsupial, thus exhibit the result of different adaptive radiation and also shows the phenomenon of convergent evolution.
