In dicot roots, Casparian strip is made up of both suberin and lignin. Xylem bundles in dicot roots are two to six (diarch to hexarch) while monocot roots have more than six (polyarch) xylem bundles. Endodermis in dicot roots is followed by one or more layers of pericycle. Phloem and xylem bundles are separated from each other by one or more layers of thin walled cells called conjunctive tissue.
