Ex-situ conservation of selected rare plants/animals in place outside their natural home. Zoological parks, botanical gardens and wildlife safari parks serve this purpose. Gametes and plant seeds are also known to be kept viable by storing in extremely cold temperatures (cryopreservation) or in seed banks.
