Causative agent: Microsporum, Epidermophyton, and Trichophyton, the genera of fungi.
It is also known as 'Dermatophytosis'.
It is an infection of scalp, skin, and nails which is highly contagious in nature. They attack these areas because those are the only parts of the body with enough keratin to attract them.
Symptoms: Pink or red patches on skin or scalp characterized by itching and dryness.
Trichomoniasis:
Causative agent: Trichomonas vaginalis- A protozoan.
Symptoms: Genital itching, painful urination, inflammation in vagina or cervix and foul-smelling vaginal discharge in women.
Mode of transmission: It is a sexually transmitted disease.
