Age pyramid having higher population of pre-reproductive individuals, moderate number of reproductive individuals and low post-reproductive individual count forms the proper upright triangular shape. It represents growing population or expanding one.
If the count of reproductive population is higher than the pre-reproductive population, the age pyramid forms an urn shape. It represents declining or diminishing population with low natality.
For a bell-shaped age pyramid, the population of pre-reproductive and reproductive groups is almost equal. Post reproductive population is low. Such age pyramid shows stable or stationary population, neither growing nor diminishing.
