In the given graph of hormonal changes during the menstrual cycle, the labellings A, B, C, D represents estrogen, FSH (follicular stimulating hormone), LH (luteinising hormone) and progesterone respectively. Hormone FSH and LH are secreted from the anterior pituitary. In females, FSH induces the development and growth of ovarian follicles and LH also causes follicular growth and induces ovulation from the fully matured Graafian follicles with LH surge. This activity also maintains the corpus luteum formed from the remnant of Graafian follicles to produce progesterone.
