Q. Read the following statements and choose the correct option.
1. RNA polymerase associates transiently with ‘Rho’ factor to initiate transcription
2. In bacteria, transcription and translation takes place in the same compartment
3. RNA polymerase I is responsible for transcription of tRNA

Solution:

RNA polymerase associates transiently with initiation factor (sigma, s) and termination factor (rho, r) to initiate and terminate the transcription respectively. In eukaryotes, there are at least three RNA polymerases. RNA polymerase I transcribes rRNAs (28S, 18S and 5.8S), RNA polymersase III transcribes tRNA, 5 SrRNA and snRNA and RNA polymerase II transcribes hnRNA, the precursor of mRNA. In capping, 5-methyl guanosine, triphosphate is added to 5' end of mRNA.
