Solution:

When two dissimilar factors are present in a single individual, only one is able to express and the other is not. The one that expresses itself is called the dominant factor while which fails to express is termed as a recessive factor. In other words, we can say that a dominant allele influences the appearance of the phenotype even in the presence of an alternative allele (i.e., is expressed in both homozygous and heterozygous condition) while recessive allele influences the appearance of the phenotype only in the presence of another identical allele (i.e., only in homozygous condition). This is called the law of dominance.
Here, the functional unmodified allele will produce the original phenotype because it is the dominant allele while the modified allele is the recessive allele. Dominant alleles always produce certain phenotypes and show their effect in the presence of other alleles. Recessive allele, only if homozygous, will show their effect. This allele will remain hidden or masked in heterozygous condition.
