Solution:

The bulb is an underground pyriform structure that has a reduced stem and several fleshy scales that enclose a terminal bud. The bulb consists of several adventitious roots that arise from the lower side of the stem. The bulb is covered with a sheath called tunic. Bulbs are either scaly or tunicated. Lily is an example of scaly bulb and it is non-tunicated. In Allium cepa (onion), fleshy scales are present which refer to leaf bases and are tunicated. In Allium sativum (garlic) a scaly, fleshy compound tunicated bulb is observed.
