Funaria (bryophytes) is known as common moss or green moss or cord moss. The main plant body of Funaria is gametophytic (n). There are two forms of Funaria, alga like branched filamentous portion called protonema which is produced by germination of spores. It is ephemeral or short lived. Somewhat erect portion of protonema near the
substratum, containing chlorophyll is chloronema.
