Dryopithecus or proconsul is a common ancestor of humans and apes that lived as arboreal ones in Asia and Africa. It had semi - erect posture with hindlimbs and forelimbs of same size. In proconsul, hands and skull were monkey like, forehead like humans, jaws and dentition were like apes.
