Potassium dichromate (K2Cr2O7) , is a common inorganic chemical reagent, most commonly used as an oxidizing agent in various laboratory and industrial applications.
Ferrous iron is oxidized to ferric iron by potassium dichromate in acid solution. The completion of oxidation reaction marked by the appearance of blue violet color of diphenylamine, which is used as an internal indicator.
