Solution:

Plants have localised growing areas called meristematic tissue. Apical meristem, intercalary meristem and lateral meristem are the three types of meristematic tissues based on location. Apical meristem forms the growing tip of shoot and root and remains active throughout the life span of a plant and causes growth in height. It also keeps giving rise to new branches.
