Solution:
The formation of ova starts from the cells present inside the ovary known as the oogonia. The cells of oogonium undergo mitotic divisions to form diploid primary oocytes. All the primary oocytes are formed before birth inside the ovary, and none are formed after birth during the whole lifetime of the individual. By the time of birth, there are about 2 million primary oocytes already formed inside the ovary.
