Hormones: Hormones are non-nutrient chemicals produced by endocrine glands. They act as intercellular messengers and are produced in trace amounts. Chemically they are made up of peptide/proteins, steroids, derivatives of amino acids and iodothyronines. Enzymes: They are the biocatalyst of the body that are produced in trace amounts and are generally made up of proteins. However, there are few enzymes that are made up of RNA like ribozymes. Unlike hormones, enzymes can be reused in a chemical reaction. Enzymes are produced by exocrine glands and each enzyme is effective at s certain pH.
