Nucleolus is the site for the synthesis of ribosomes. It has dense fibrillar region (secondary constriction) containing many copies of DNA, which direct the synthesis of ribosomal RNA (rRNA). The ribosomal proteins also diffuse in nucleus and reach nucleolus where these and the r-RNA are packed into ribosomal units.
